After the parade, labor union leaders and local elected officials will speak at Innovative Field starting at 1:30 p.m. The Rochester & Genesee Valley Area Labor Federation and local unions are organizing the conference. Labor Day celebrates the contributions of American workers. It has roots in the 19th-century labor movement, where workers organized to demand better conditions, and it became a federal holiday in 1894.
