‘Cicely Tyson: In Her Own Words’ Celebrates The Life And Career Of Cicely Tyson

BET and CBS News have taken a coordinated approach to producing a primetime special that will celebrate and remember the life and career of the late legendary actress Cicely Tyson.
“BET + CBS News Present Cicely Tyson: In Her Own Words” will be hosted by Gail King from CBS This Morning and will feature clips from interviews that describe her 70 year career of modeling and acting on TV, film and in the theater.
Among all of her accomplishments, she was also the first Black actress to co-star in the TV series East Side/West Side.
She also won an Emmy for her performance in The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman (1974), a Tony award for her role in The Trip to Bountiful in 2013, an honorary Academy Award in 2018 and was inducted to the Television Hall of Fame in 2020.
“Cicely Tyson: In Her Own Words” premieres Sunday, January 31 at 7:00 PM ET/PT on BET and 8PM/7C on BET Her.
