Childish Gambino Announces Release Date for Final Album ‘Bando Stone & The New World,’ Releases First Single ‘Lithonia’

Written by on July 5, 2024

Childish Gambino announced the July release of his final album, “Bando Stone & The New World,” and released the first single from the album, “Lithonia,” a track that marks a shift to a rock sound with heavy guitars and reverb vocals. The song is named after a city in Georgia, the setting of his TV show.

The announcement of the album follows the release of the trailer for Gambino’s upcoming film, “Bando Stone & The New World,” which premiered around the time of his appearance at the BET Awards. The film features Gambino as the title character navigating a dystopian world filled with giant squids and menacing emu-like birds.

To celebrate the album’s launch, Gambino plans to stage an interactive experience on July 6 at Little Island in New York City. The event offers a first listen to the album. Additionally, Gambino will embark on the New World Tour, starting on August 11 in Oklahoma City and including stops in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Chicago, Europe, and Australia, with support from Willow and Aamara. The tour is a part of Gambino’s final two albums announcement, which also includes the updated version of “3.15.20” titled “Atavista” that was released in May.
