CDC Updates COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Shot List Eligibility

Written by on October 1, 2021

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has updated their list for the COVID-19 booster shot. The COVID-19 vaccine booster is only for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. So if you got the Moderna or the Johnson & Johnson shot you will not be eligible for this booster shot. You would also have had to complete the initial series of the Pfizer vaccine at least 6 months prior.

The CDC updated its list for the booster shot to include front line essential workers and healthcare workers 18 and over. Those occupations are first responders, education staff, grocery store workers, public transit workers, U.S. Postal Service workers, and correction workers. Also on the list are food and agriculture workers and manufacturing workers.

If you are 18-64 years of age and live in a homeless shelter or in a setting where there is an increased risk of transmission you are also eligible.
