Carmaker Ford Set To Produce Ventilators With GE Healthcare

Written by on April 3, 2020

Car maker Ford is partnering with GE Healthcare to make 50,000 ventilators in the next 100 days. They will also be available to produce 30,000 a month thereafter depending on the need for ventilators.

Ford is able to produce the ventilators faster because of the company’s manufacturing capabilities. The ventilator will have a simplified design, licensed by GE Healthcare from the Florida based ventilator maker Airon Corp. It will be able to meet the needs of most COVID-19 patients and it won’t need electricity but will operate on air pressure.

The FDA has cleared the design for production at the Rawsonville Michigan Components Plant. The GE/Airon Model A-E Ventilator is scheduled to start production the week of April 20th.

The effort that Ford is putting into helping the healthcare field and workers is pretty amazing. Doing something is definitely better than doing nothing.

Thank you Ford for providing a way to help during this pandemic.
