Canadian Wildfires The Reason Why Rochester’s Air Quality Is A Concerns
Written by Tariq on July 15, 2025
The air quality is considered “moderate” in most of the region as of Tuesday morning, according to the interactive map on the website IQ Air. That means sensitive groups — such as children, the elderly, people with asthma, and people with heart disease — should reduce outdoor exercise. Everyone could be at risk for eye, skin, and throat irritation if outdoors during that time. You can see real-time air quality updates here and see what the indicators mean here. The wildfires burning in northern Canada aren’t just impacting Western New York. Much of the Great Lakes region — including Michigan, Wisconsin, northern Minnesota, and northeastern Indiana — has been feeling the impacts. As you may remember, the Rochester area had severe air quality concerns two years ago because of wildfires burning in Quebec.
