Buffalo Mass Shooter Indicted on Federal Hate Crime & Gun Charges

Yesterday, a federal grand jury has indicted the man who murdered 10 Black people at the Jefferson Ave Tops in Buffalo, NY. A 27-count indictment charges Payton Gendron, 19, of Conklin, Broome County, with 14 hate crimes and 13 firearms offenses, following the May 14 shooting at Tops on Jefferson Avenue in Buffalo.

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland stated: “The Justice Department fully recognizes the threat that white supremacist violence poses to the safety of the American people and American democracy. We will continue to be relentless in our efforts to combat hate crimes, to support the communities terrorized by them, and to hold accountable those who perpetrate them.”
