The foundations have committed $260,000 over the next three years to support the growth of girls’ flag football in local schools. Greece Central School District has already confirmed receiving $3,000 to enhance their program, which has seen overwhelming interest from students.

“This generous funding helps ensure that student-athletes have the resources they need to fully engage in this fast-growing program,” said Ray Istas, director of athletics for Greece Odyssey and Olympia.

Our Lady of Mercy’s Dr. Susan Penepent expressed gratitude, emphasizing that the funds will cover equipment, coaching staff, and training, further strengthening their existing varsity program.

The funding aims not only to expand athletic opportunities for young women but also to cultivate leadership skills and confidence through sports.
