Boys & Girls Club of Rochester Start a Fundraiser for Drowning Victim

Written by on April 1, 2019

Last week we were informed of the unfortunate drowning of 8- year-old Jamielath Kabba at the Residence Inn in Henrietta. While attending a birthday party at the hotel, Kabba went swimming and slipped under the surface of the deep end for at least 11 minutes, according to police. She was rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead an hour later.

Today we’ve learned that the Boys & Girls Club of Rochester has put together a fundraiser to support the family of Jamielath Kabba. She and her siblings were all members of the organization.

Marketing and public relations director for the Boys & Girls Club of Rochester Tiffany Wood told 13WHAM News, “Jamielath was really well loved by our staff. She was a real sweetheart. She had the reputation of bringing a lot of smiles to the people she interacted with and everyone is really sad to have heard this news. It’s really tragic.”

Police are still investigating the incident.
