#BlackExcellence Kendrick Lamar Wins Pulitzer Prize

Written by on April 17, 2018

This is huge moment for Hip Hop. Congratulations to Kendrick Lamar on winning the Pulitzer Prize for his album DAMN.
And another one *DJ Khaled’s voice.*

So far we have the record breaking, history making movie Black Panther, Cardi B.’s album Invasion Of Privacy going gold the day it dropped, Lena Waithe’s (creator of The Chi) success, Ava Duvernay becoming the first black woman to direct a live action film with a $100 million budget, to Beyoncé Coachella performance and we are not even six months in yet!!
Yeah, 2018 is lit.
I have to say I really feel like it is such a blessing to actually live through all of these historic moments with more still to come, what a time to be alive!!
We all felt the Kendrick should go won at the Grammy’s when Bruno Mars walked away with the award for Album of The Year but it really all was a set up for the win on Monday. #GodsPlan
Kendrick made history by winning one of the most coveted awards ever and not just in music, the Pulitzer Prize. As a matter of fact he is the first non classical or jazz musician to win the prize since 1943 when the award began to include music.
A rapper from Compton winning the prestigious Pulitzer Prize… WOW…. It is a historic day for Hip Hop.
This goes to show the writing, creativity, and thought provoking music is needed and recognized now more than ever.
Thank you for sharing your artistry with us K. Dot, we appreciate you!
By the way K. Dot will be in concert at Darien Lake June 3, 2018.
