A local sushi staple and personal favorite of mine, California Rollin’ Inc., announced on Thursday that it would be closing ‘indefinitely’.

The sign taped to the doors at their location in Village Gate at 274 North Goodman Street read, “California Rollin’ will be closed indefinitely. Sorry for any inconvenience. Thank you.”

California Rollin’ Inc. was a popular local sushi eatery for the last 20 years so their closing comes as a surprise to customers. According to Health inspection reports from the New York State Department of Health, there were no outstanding violations, meaning the establishment had a current permit to operate.

So far, the current owners have not commented on this new development. However, the owner’s father, and original owner of the establishment, Thomas Beaman, said he would soon hold a news conference “to further discuss the business going forward.”
