“That girl is Poison!” The first time I heard this song by Bell Biv Devoe was probably in middle school. Back then, I never knew the extent of what the song was about, nor did I care because the beat was just incredible. 

It wasn’t until I got older and paid attention to the lyrics and began thinking, “I can’t believe I was 10 years old singing ‘Never trust a big butt and a smile!’” Or the lyrics “Do me, baby” from their hit song ‘Do Me’. I was singing these lyrics faithfully with so much heart and the funny (or slightly embarrassing) thing is that my parents let me! Why? I’m not sure, but that’s a story for another day. 

The point is that it’s amazing how talented artists/groups like Bell Biv Devoe, are able to write songs that touch all ages and generations.
