The Baltimore police officer that resigned after the video of him repeatedly punching a man went viral on social media has been indicted on assault charges.
The incident took place Saturday where the unidentified officer can be seen in the video via USA Today punching 26 year-old DaShawn McGrier over a dozen times.
McGrier was injured and did get medical attention for a fractured jaw and ribs.
The officer turned himself in Tuesday and is facing second-degree assault, and misconduct in office charges.

The officer resigned Monday but Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh said she “demanded answers and accountability.”
She also said in a statement “We are working day and night to bring about a new era of community-based, Constitutional policing and will not be deterred by this or any other instance that threatens our efforts to re-establish the trust of all citizens in the Baltimore Police Department.”
The second officer, according to WJZ CBS Baltimore, is not facing charges but has been put on administrative leave.
