Bad Milk! Lactose-Free Lactaid Recalled In 24 States & Yep, Including New York
Written by Tariq on September 24, 2024
The recall impacts consumers in several states, including New York, Texas, California, and Florida, among others. So far, no illnesses have been reported. HP Hood LLC, the parent company of Lactaid, has issued a voluntary recall of its lactose-free milk after discovering potential trace amounts of almonds in several 96-ounce products. The recall affects five different Lactaid SKUs, as announced by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday. The recall was initiated after routine maintenance revealed the possibility of almond contamination, which is not listed on the product label. Almonds are a tree nut, one of the most common food allergens, and can cause severe reactions in those with tree nut allergies, including life-threatening anaphylaxis.
The affected Lactaid products include:
- 96-ounce Lactaid Whole Milk
- 96-ounce Lactaid 2% Milk
- 96-ounce Lactaid 1% Milk
- 96-ounce Lactaid Fat Free Milk
- 96-ounce 2% Calcium Enriched Milk
