Babyface Says His Kids Are Still Discovering His Music Through Other People

Despite being a legendary figure in R&B, Babyface revealed in an interview with PEOPLE that his children are only recently discovering the depth of his musical legacy. The 67-year-old Grammy winner, whose real name is Kenneth Edmonds, shared that at home, he’s just “Dad.” He’s noticed that his son Brandon has been exploring his work more and offering feedback. Babyface says he tends not to write about fatherhood in his music, focusing instead on love themes. He’s currently preparing for Charlie Wilson’s Uncle Charlie’s R&B Cookout Tour, where he enjoys performing medleys of hits he wrote for artists like Beyoncé and SZA. Although he has an expansive catalog, he admits choosing which songs to perform is always a challenge.
