According to New York State Attorney General Letitia James, the Daniel Prude death investigation is moving to a grand jury.
She gave a statement that said:
“The Prude family and the Rochester community have been through great pain and anguish. My office will immediately move to empanel a grand jury as part of our exhaustive investigation into this matter.”
The Daniel Prude case involves a 41 year old man from Chicago who died at the hands of Rochester Police Officers back in March. The news broke last Wednesday and the case is currently under investigation by the New York State’s Attorney General Office.
After the autopsy report confirmed the cause of death as a homicide due to “complications of asphyxia in the setting of the restraint.” The report also showed that Prude also had a small amount of PCP in his system at the time of his death, which could explain his erratic behavior.
The 7 officers in connection to the incident have been suspended.
