According to officials at the Seneca Park Zoo, two of their animals have passed away.
The zoo released a statement on Facebook that read:
“Seneca Park Zoo is sad to share the news of the passing of two iconic, long-term residents: American bald eagle Abe, and Burmese python Abby. A testament to the extraordinary care both animals received, Abe and Abby lived much longer than median life-expectancies for their species, with Abe at age 30, and Abby at 25.”
Abby’s roommate, Mr. Slithers, will be getting a new companion sometime soon and Maverick, the other bald eagle will be moved to a temporary shelter while some renovations are made to the shelter.
