A Bankrate survey shows money is Americans’ most uncomfortable conversation topic, surpassing politics and religion.
61% feel uneasy discussing bank balances, and nearly half avoid talking about credit card debt (47%) or salary (45%). By contrast, fewer are uncomfortable with politics (24%), religion (18%), or weight (31%).
Despite the discomfort, experts say discussing money is vital, as it shapes major life decisions.
Younger adults are more open about finances than older generations.
