A Delta Airlines flight crew recently gave back to a group of young girls in a major and dope way!
The all female flight crew flew 120 girls to NASA in Houston, Texas as a part of Delta’s initiative to shrink the gender gap in aviation.
Run by all women, the flight was coordinated from the ground up. For example, the ramp agents, gate agents, operators in the control tower, flight crew, and pilots were all female.
The Women Inspiring our Next Generation flight, or Delta “WING”, took the girls to NASA headquarters to bring awareness to careers in STEM.
2017 FAA data shows women make up only 7% of pilots out of the 609,306 pilots in the airline industry, crazy right?!
According to ABC News , a 12th grader named Katelyn said “It didn’t seem realistic to go after a career in aviation. But today I realized, ‘Hey, I can do this too.'”
All it takes is one young person to see someone that looks like them doing something they love! That may inspire them to step into a career that could change the world from scientists, astronauts, surgeons, to teachers and more!
There are no limits, not even the sky!
