‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ Makes Historic Return to #1

Written by on December 22, 2021

Mariah Carey’s 1994 hit, All I Want For Christmas Is You, makes a historic return at number 1 on the Billboard Charts, topping Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” at number 2, Bobby Helm’s “Jingle Bell Rock” at number 4, and Burl Ives’ “A Holly Jolly Christmas” at number 5. This is the single’s sixth total week atop the Hot 100, making the hit the first song in the chart’s history to have done so three times.

While the single first debuted back in 1994 on Carey’s Merry Christmas album, being able to stream the song has what made it really come back to life. December 2017 is when the single first hit Billboard’s Hot 100’s top 10, then in December 2019 (for three weeks), December 2020 (for two weeks), and, of course, now.
