Albany Reverses Rule On How Many Guests Can Attend Weddings
Written by Site Hub on August 23, 2020
After several couples sued the state of New York to have a wedding with more than 50 guests in attendance and won, New York State governor Andrew Cuomo vowed to take the case to a federal appeals court, calling it “irresponsible.”
The first couple found a loophole and booked their wedding at a location that could hold more than 50 guests even at 50% occupancy. They ended up suing for their cause and the judge temporarily lifted the 50 guest rule so they could proceed.
The second couple had a guest list of 175 and tried the same approach, but Albany got there first and was able to attain an emergency stay on the 50 guest limit until the next court session is in order.
