Airbnb Cracks Down on Unauthorized Parties for Upcoming Holidays

Summer vacations are coming sooner than you think and Airbnb is re-instituting its strict party ban for Memorial Day and the Fourth of July this year to prevent unauthorized parties and emphasize safe and responsible travel. Here is the following criteria for guests attempting to book reservations during Memorial Day weekend and 4th of July weekend in the US:

• Guests without a history of positive reviews will be prohibited from making one-night reservations in entire home listings.
• When July 4th approaches, Airbnb will use more stringent restrictions on certain two-night reservation attempts. They will restrict last-minute bookings by guests without a history of positive reviews.
• Anti-party attestations to guests attempting to make local reservations in which they must attest they understand the party ban and may be subject to legal action if they break the rule.
• Guests who have a history of positive reviews will not be subject to these restrictions.

Airbnb stated: “We also understand that the simple fact of not yet having reviews does not mean that a guest is trying to throw a party — this is a trade-off we are willing to make in the interest of trust and safety.”
