On Saturday, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello spoke from the Seneca Park Zoo, announcing the official kick-off of the county’s public engagement efforts to support Monroe’s financial recovery efforts. When describing the theme of the announcement, Bello said it is bringing Monroe County back while planning for the next 200 years.

Bello thanked members of the local, state, and the federal legislature for supporting the American Rescue Plan (ARPA) which will provide $144 million in aid to the county. He stated: “This, right now, is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” he said, from a podium set up in the Zoo’s Rocky Coasts exhibit hall. We must invest these critical dollars to ensure that their collective impact is robust but also long-lasting.”
