A New Substance Abuse Policy Could Be Coming To The NFL
Written by DJ Sight on March 6, 2020
In the past many professional athletes have been suspended due to failed drug testing. A new 2020 drug abuse policy could be coming to the NFL; in which players will no longer be suspend if they test positive for marijuana, instead they’ll pay a fine.
If a player test positive for their first violation under this new policy they’ll lose half of their game salary. A second violation he’ll have to pay a full weeks salary, and a third violation would result in two weeks salary, but players will still not face any suspensions.
The only way a player could face suspension is if they fail to cooperate with the testing policy.
What are your thoughts on this policy? Should NFL players be suspended if they test positive for marijuana or should they just face a fine. One commentator made a great point he would rather them test positive for marijuana than be a strung out on a opioid pill due to a painful injury.
