A new JumpstARTS intiative was announced Monday morning. The intiative is meant to give local artists affected by the pandemic a boost.

JumpstARTS will be utilizing $2 million in CARES Act funding.

13 WHAM stated:

“They say the program will help small and mid-sized organizations in Monroe County. Groups eligible to receive funding must have non-profit status or be limited liability companies, and have not already received funds through Fast Forward Monroe.”

The funds will be used to cover COVID related expenses experienced by these groups between March 20, 2020 and June 18 of this year.

Danny Hoskins, artistic and managing director for Blackfriars Theatre in Rochester, stated:

“The arts inspire us as human beings They teach us how to connect, how to love, how to care, how to take care of one another. That experience, that moving, visceral experience that you have when you come to a live performance of any kind is unmatchable – and I think we all need that right now.”
