A Fire on a Capsized Cargo Ship off the Georgia Coast has been Extinguished Using Seawater

On Friday, a ship was capsized and caught fire off the Georgia Coast. However, a press release from St. Simons Sound Incident Unified Command, said they have been able to put out the fire.

The press release stated that they were able to put the fire out using seawater.

Coast Guard Cmdr. Efren Lopez stated:

“Early this evening our firefighting teams successfully put out the fire inside the Golden Ray wreck. Safety is our highest priority and every member of the response displayed tremendous commitment to ensuring that emergency plans were followed during the entire fire fighting and evacuation evolution.”
