Fred and Sheila McCoy, a retired couple from Kentucky known for their YouTube videos on the Hatfield-McCoy feud, helped authorities locate what are believed to be the remains of Joseph Couch, the suspected shooter who attacked vehicles on Interstate 75 on September 7, wounding five people. Motivated by the fear and disruptions in the community of London, Kentucky—including school closures and residents being urged to stay vigilant—the McCoys spent a week searching rugged terrain despite their own physical challenges. They discovered the remains about a mile from where the shooting occurred, and authorities believe Couch died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Kentucky State Police credited the McCoys for their role and announced they would receive a $25,000 reward. DNA testing is underway to confirm the identity of the remains, but officials, including Governor Andy Beshear, express confidence that the case will soon be officially closed. The community has expressed relief following the discovery.
