Purposed Age Requirement Change For ATV Drivers

Quick heads up on the new proposal for the age requirement changes with young ATV drivers. There is a new proposal on the table to change the age requirement from 10 years old to 14 years for ATV drivers.

New York State does not require ATV drivers to have a license. However, children 10 years old can get a certificate from the DMV. With the certificate they are allowed to ride an ATV in area’s where ATV’s are permitted.

Experts say over 400 people are killed on ATV’s a year and 10% are children with head and neck injuries.
