Governor Hochul Visits Rochester

This past Monday, Governor Kathy Hochul visited Rochester to highlight parts of her State of the State address, including housing and lead exposure proposals. Governor Hochul stopped at the Upper Falls Square Apartments on Hudson Avenue, urging local leaders to take steps back in reducing the risk of child lead poisoning in rental properties.
Governor Hochul stated: “We’ve been talking about childhood lead poisoning, I feel like, my entire life. I don’t know when this was first discovered as a problem. I know they stopped putting lead in paint decades ago. One would think ‘Must be over now,’ right? How are we still talking about this in 2023? But it’s real.”
