Monroe County Parks to Receive Million Dollar Upgrades
Written by Site Hub on August 11, 2022
Our local parks are long overdue for some revamping, and it seems Monroe County is one step ahead of us. Last year, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announced $7.2 million for the project. Yesterday at Powder Mills Park, he announced an additional $9.4 million will be made, saying it’s worth the investment.
Bello stated: “These lands, these beautiful places, this beautiful nature: it belongs to the people, and if it is shabby, the people have been treated shabbily, and so I could not be more proud to be here.”
Some of the changes that will be made include upgrades at all three county golf courses, adding pickleball courts at Mendon Ponds and Black Creek, replacing wood-burning stoves in park lodges, and constructing synthetic ice rink, spray park, and accessible playground at Ontario Beach Park. The historic Dentzel Menagerie Carousel will also be renovated. Also, a new playground at Powder Mills Park and an accessible canoe/kayak launch at Churchville Park.
