Sick of the Gas Prices? Governor Hochul Weighs NY Options

Written by on March 8, 2022

While Governor Hochul was in Rochester yesterday morning, she took the time to address what New York State could do to help with the fast-rising gas prices. In a press release from a company called GasBuddy, they reported a 61-cent jump compared to February and a $1.43 difference since 2021. Currently, there are no clear answers to what New York is going to do.

As you might have seen earlier this week, NY Assemblymen are asking for the gas tax to be suspended, but according to Governor Hochul, she stated that there are no guarantees that suspending the gas tax would result in lower prices at the pump. Hochul followed up stating she wants “to make sure that if we do something it’s actually going to have an impact if we’re going to reduce state revenues.”
