New York Seeing A Cream Cheese Shortage Which Means Cheesecakes Could Be Too

Written by on December 10, 2021

If you love cheesecake let me give you the heads up now you might be seeing less of it in stores and restaurants. The reason is due to a shortage of cream cheese. Yep… Labor shortages, supply chain issues, and the demand for cream cheese have significantly increased.

More people are eating at home due to the pandemic which means people are purchasing more cream cheese from grocery stores. With the holiday’s the demand for cheesecakes are also 20-30% on top of the increase from the pandemic. This shortage so far is happening in New York City but could be felt in the rest of the state.

Bagel shops are also feeling the shortage which is a real problem for shops in NYC. You know you can’t have an everything bagel without your favorite cream cheese!

Some bagel shops are opting to make their own cream cheese from scratch.
