Monroe County Executive Adam Bello Has No Plans For Covid Restrictions

Written by on November 24, 2021

Following the news of Erie County’s mask mandate, Monroe County Executive Adam Bello spoke on the Monore County’s plans. As of right now, Bello said there’s no plan at this time to issue a mask mandate or any other restrictions locally. However, this could change at any given time. According to Bello, the county officials are keeping a close eye on cases numbers, the positivity rate, and hospitalizations to determine whether more actions are necessary. He advises that people celebrating Thanksgiving with others should wear a mask, get vaccinated, and seek out a rapid COVID test.

Adam Bello stated: “Make no mistake: the county has worked very hard over the last several weeks on mitigation strategies – to give the public the tools they need to manage the risk – which is making testing way more available than it has been before, and it’s also vaccines…We communicated that with the state but the staff is in short supply everywhere. That’s not an easily-solved problem – that you snap your fingers and nursing home beds to turn on.”

Monroe County is hopeful for a decline in COVID cases and hospitalizations as the county now leads the state with vaccinations.
