Mayor Lovely Warren Receives Mixed Reactions at Arraignment

Yesterday, Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren and her husband plead not guilty to charges of endangering the welfare of a child and failure to lock and secure firearms. This is a follow-up to back in May of this year, where search warrants were executed at a number of addresses in Rochester in connection with the investigation into a mid-level drug operation, and among the locations searched was the home where the mayor lives.
While appearing in court yesterday, many community members had mixed reactions, some supporting the mayor while others calling to her resignation. Jeffrey Melvin, a bishop at Power House Kingdom Cathedral, attended the mayor’s arraignment, stating; “It appears to me and many others that the mayor is under persecution from this legal system where a DA or an office gets arbitrary decision-making process on who to prosecute and not, it seems like she is being unfairly targeted.”
