Surprises for the School of the Arts from Alum Taye Diggs

Yesterday, the School of the Arts was presented with surprises that include bringing a boost to their classrooms. AdoptAClassroom.org and Burlington teamed up to provide much-needed funds to classrooms, and this year’s partnership is raising more than $75,000 to be donated to the School of the Arts. Each classroom will receive about $750 to help with preparations for the coming school year, equaling the average amount of money teachers spend out of their own pockets every year for their classrooms and students.

The news was delivered via Zoom from a very special alum of School of the Arts, actor Taye Diggs. Taye stated when presenting the funding; “I wouldn’t be where I am today were it not for the School of the Arts, and more importantly, the teachers. My mother’s a teacher, so there’s always been a large place in my heart for teachers in general, but I was able to experience how important, the power that teachers have, and the influence when I went to the School of the Arts. The power of being able to express myself through the arts, but only through amazing teachers, really, really shaped my life.”
