Plagued by violence, Chicago prepares for critical holiday weekend

Since Friday, 16 people have been shot, six of which were fatal, according to the Chicago Police.

In one incident, a 39 year-old man was shot in the head while riding in the back seat of a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Another incident involved a 40 year-old man. He was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene. This shooting occured because the victim was playing music. The shooter complained and this lead to an altercation which lead to the shooting.
CNN reported:
“The news comes a day after local leaders met in a nearly six-hour long city council special meeting, ahead of the holiday weekend that Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown called police’s ‘most challenging weekend of the year.'”
