Alternative Energy Company Is Setting Up A Gigafactory In Henrietta

Plug Power Inc is an alternative energy provider that is building a $125 million giga factory in Henrietta. The factory will bring 377 new jobs with it.

the factory will be the world’s first Gigafactory for proton exchange membrane technology, according to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

The technology that will be manufactured there will help the company create hydrogen fuel cells and electroayzers. These fuel cells will power ProGen hydrogen fuel cell engines, which are used by a large number of electric vehicles like material-handling equipment, commercial fleet vehicles and drones.

Andy Marsh, CEO of Power Plug Inc gave a statement, saying:

“We are thrilled to expand in our home state of New York, announcing Rochester, New York as the location for the world’s first PEM stack and electrolyzer Plug Power Innovation Center. Among many great options, none could match Rochester in terms of talent, local supplier networks, and opportunities to partner with top-tier research institutions. With this decision, we are positioning the company and the region as global leaders in PEM technology, driving scale and industry transformation.”
