Is Your Dog Following You Everywhere You Go?

If you are a dog owner you have probably wondered why sometimes your fur baby turns into your shadow. Okay so maybe not sometimes but ALL of the time they are following you everywhere. Well, I came across this article that explains why your furry family member follows you around.

One of the reasons which you may already know is dogs are pack animals so they see you as a family member or a part of their pack. Because of that, they want to be around you as much as they can.

Also if you train your dog by positive reinforcement they may just be around you because they know they will get a treat. This could be why your pup is always hanging around with the kid(s) too. Kids love to drop food and your furry family member is cleaning up behind them.

The one interesting thing the article lists is if you have had your puppy between birth and 6 months the dog may have bonded with you. Dogs can form an attachment at a very young age so they may imprint with you like they would their mother and see you as a parental figure. That I didn’t know and is pretty cool.

Lastly, it depends on the breed of dog as some dogs were bred for constant companionship like Chihuahuas but especially Pugs. Pugs also have issues with separation anxiety so you have to be mindful of that if you have one or are deciding to get one.

You can read more on separation anxiety do’s and don’t in the article by clicking here.
