Rochester’s is home to many veterans who have all served in different unique ways during their tours of duty. Local veterans in need of mental or physical care after they return home usually go to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Canandaigua.

Officials there are saying there’s a $300 Million project in the works to upgrade the center. Thats great news because the building was built in the 1930’s and the upgrade will make everyone being treated there more comfortable.

Project manager David Price gave a statement:

“There will be improved parking and centralization of outpatient services to help veterans easily find the service that they are looking for. Our new long term care environments will be homelike, yet functional — providing private rooms and bathrooms. The biggest thing happening right now is that building, we’re going to see that develop quickly,” he said. “The center has primary care specialty care, radiology, dental care, our Veteran Service Center, so if you’re a new patient you go to that.”
