A man in Florida was rescued from the sea over 85 miles off the coast of Port Canaveral.

According to reports, Stuart Bee was asleep on his 32 ft boat called the Sea Ray, when water began rushing into the cabin shortly after midnight on Sunday.

Petty Officer First Class David Micallef, a spokesman for the U.S. Coast Guard told sources that the boat “filled up almost immediately,” adding that the force of water “pushed him out of the front hatch.”

Mr. Bee clung to the bow of the sinking ship for hours, bobbing up and down in the open ocean until he spotted a ship in the distance shortly after sunrise. He took off his shirt and frantically waved the crew down, losing his glasses in the process.

The Liberian container ship called ‘Angeles’ got close enough to throw him a life raft around 11am and got him aboard using a ladder. Mr. Bee declined to be picked up by the Coast Guard and is hitching a ride back to Florida with the crew that reduced him. They should be getting into port today.
