Innovation Centers Acceleration Act Could Bring New Industries To Rochester

Written by on November 13, 2020

New legislation proposed by Congressman Joe Morelle could help jumpstart the Rochester local economy and bring new industries into the city.

The “Innovation Centers Acceleration Act” being proposed is trying to bring federal money into innovation hubs across the country and leaders believe that Rochester is one of those areas.

“This is really to build the regional ability to continue to attract researchers and scientists, and make investments that will deal with workforce development, racial equity, affordable housing ect. As we began to recover, we need to think of bold investments that will literally kick start our economy. Not only will this enhance our ability to be competitive globally in this growing sphere, it will strengthen our economy and create jobs at a time when they’re needed the very most.”

If the legislation passes, it will bring a percentage of $80 billion over 9 years.
