New York Sends Masks & Test Kits to Atlanta
Written by Jazzy T on July 17, 2020
“Looks like Cuomo running to be the next Black President”.
That’s the response my friend had while reading a tweet from Governor Cuomo to Mayor Keisha Bottoms of Atlanta.
In the tweet Cuomo says New York is preparing to send 7,500 test kits, 30,000 pieces of PPE (personal protection equipment) and 1,250 gallons of hand sanitizer to Atlanta by Friday.
My mother often says, “A friend, in need, is a friend indeed.” We are grateful to have a friend in @NYGovCumo and the people of NY. #ATLStrong https://t.co/zs2TL5E6eL

The coronavirus has hit the Black community especially hard, when you look at infection and death rates in America. So when the Mayor of Atlanta, asks for help obtaining things like masks and hand sanitizer, it’s only natural for the Governor of New York to step in.
Especially when the Governor of Georgia Brian Kemp just issued an executive order which makes it illegal for local governments in the state to mandate people to wear masks in public places.
Hours before it was set to expire @GovKemp extends #Georgia‘s #COVID19 protections and requirements. But on page 32 he also added in a provision prohibiting local governments from requiring #masks. pic.twitter.com/1b3NFVt86P

I really feel that America is living in two different realities.
- Covid-19 is a global pandemic and millions of Americans are dying.
- It’s hot girl summer 2020. No masks required.
