MSNBC announced that it will be launching a new evening news and opinion show called “The ReidOut,” starring Joy Reid.
This came after rumors circulated about Reid taking over Chris Matthew’s time slot after he announced his retirement. After 20 years, Matthews is retiring from his show “Hardball” after allegations of sexual misconduct.
Ried has been hosting MSNBC’s weekend morning show called “AM Joy” and has been seen stepping in for Rachael Maddow and Chris Hayes when they need a sub.
In a press release, Reid said:
“I’m honored and thankful for this opportunity. I’ll always be proud of the work we did on AM Joy by pushing the envelope and tackling pragmatic conversations. I’m eager to carry that same energy into the 7 p.m. hour where we can continue to build on bringing in diverse, smart, and accomplished voices to the table on topics that are important to our viewers.”
