Wegmans Email Customers About Changes Due To COVID-19 And Price Increases

If you have not received the email from Wegmans regarding the increase in costs due to COVID-19 it is in fact true – prices are going up.

Wegmans sent an email out Wednesday to update us shoppers. In the email it mentioned the changes the grocery stores has faced in the last two months, which they noted was more than in their 50 years of operating. The email stated they will continue implement social distancing protocols and continue to limit the number of people in the store for all of our safety.

The safety of employees and customers is top on their list as well as keeping all stores open. However, there is a cost and it is increasing. In other word, we are going to be paying more for certain grocery items like meat.

In the email Wegmans stated “In addition to an increase in operating costs, we are seeing an increase in product costs in supply-challenged areas, such as meat. For these reasons, retail prices on certain items in our stores will fluctuate in response.

We know these are hard times and many are feeling the effects. We feel it is our responsibility to continue to support those in need. One way to do this is by supporting local food banks that can provide food directly to those who need it most. Given the unknown duration and overall impact of this crisis, Wegmans has donated $4 million across all our partner food banks and continues to support our community partners directly, as needed.”

Wegmans is not the only store you will see prices increase so be prepared. Create a plan (or budget) and then work it!
