The Renegade is a viral sensation on social media, and fans of the dance can now finally see who’s behind its creation. No, it’s not a professional choreographer … it’s a 14-year-old girl.

Jalaiah Harmon, 14 years old, posted her dance to Instagram in September 2019 after initially uploading her moves to the video app Funimate. In the video, Jalaiah and Skylar, her 13-year-old friend, perform their moves to K Camp’s song “Lottery.” And when K Camp saw it, he showed the Jalaiah some love and gave her the credit she deserved. He thanked her for helping to make his song “the BIGGEST song in the world” and by appearing with the two girls in a video clip of his song and their dance moves.

The Renegade Dance Challenge, which is featured on TikTok, has appealed to a mass audience of celebrities, including Lizzo, Kourtney Kardashian, and Alex Rodriguez, as well as countless non-celebs. Rodriguez even posted his moves to TikTok after his daughter told him of the Renegade Dance Challenge, noting that it was his first foray into posting on TikTok. A-Rod even added a little swing of the bat in his video as a choreographed nod to his MLB sports career.
