The All-Star game honored the late Kobe Bryant and daughter, Gianna Bryant, before the All-Star Game started on Sunday night.

The tribute for the legend started with Magic Johnson, a hall of fame basketball player, making a speech in his honor. In his speech, Johnson talks about his passion for advocating for the homeless, as well as his love for his family and film making. During his speech, he stated “This is a tough time for the Whole NBA family,” acknowledging the impact Kobe Bryant made in the league. Johnson also led the mourning crowd into an 8 second moment of silence to honor the jersey number Kobe Bryant wore before he became number 24.

Academy Award winner and Chicago native, Jenifer Hudson wore a purple dress in honor of Kobe Bryant as she performed a tribute to Kobe Bryant and his daughter. She gave a chillingly good performance, singing “For All We Know” by Donny Hathaway.

Common, the rapper, another Chicago native, paid tribute to the late great legend Kobe and Gianna Bryant by performing a rap in his honor. It was beautifully orchestrated. As the lights in the arena lit up, Common raps “Even in the darkest time, you’ll feel Kobe’s light.
