DJ Sight Memphis Tennessee Experience
Written by DJ Sight on January 28, 2020
Well I’m back in Rochester after spending a weekend in Memphis Tennessee. I’ve been there though there before but I’ve never got a chance to experience the city because I was just passing through. My whole reasoning of being in city of Memphis was because I attended the St Jude’s children’s research hospital’s celebration of hope event.
I even got a chance to meet 90s Montel Jordan and watch Musiqsoulchild child and Donnie McClurkin perform.
After the event I got a chance to explore the city and experience some good o’l Memphis BBQ food I got a chance to walk the famous Beale street strip hit a few bars.
One of the places I had dinner at was caught the Lafayette music Hall I got a chance to watch the Stax academy students perform all the the hits that came out of Memphis from songs produced by Isaac hayes to songs performed by Aretha Franklin.
The highlight of my trip was being able to go visit the Civil Rights National museum. I got a chance to see the the Lorraine hotel where Dr Martin Luther King was assassinated. The museum has history going all the back to slavery to the beginning of the civil rights movement.
Everyone should visit that museum if they get a chance black, white Hispanic or whatever you are to get a better understanding of the struggles of black people in America.
Memphis Tennessee is definitely a beautiful city and I’m glad I went.
