Bell Biv Devoe to Headline Rochester Summer Soul Music Festival August 24

R&B Singer Keke Wyatt Also Added to the Line-Up

(Friday, May 3, 2019) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren today announced that Bell Biv Devoe will  headline this summer’s Rochester Summer Soul Music Festival at Frontier Field on Saturday, Aug. 24.

“Bell Biv Devoe is an act that will definitely get the crowd pumped,” said Mayor Lovely A. Warren.  “Their music is infectious, their dance moves are exceptional and the group puts on a fantastic show.  I can’t wait to see them perform.”

Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie Devoe are the trio that make up Bell Biv Devoe.  The group is currently performing around the country on its 30th Anniversary Tour.  Before forming BBD, all three were original members of the R&B group, New Edition.  Credited with pioneering the “New Jack Swing” sound of the early ‘90s, BBD’s most popular songs include Do Me!, BBD (I Thought It Was Me), and the group’s debut single and smash hit, Poison.

Also scheduled to perform on Saturday is R&B singer Keke Wyatt.  The “Nothing in This World” singer was nominated for Best New R&B/Soul/Rap Artist at the 2002 Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards. She was also a cast member on TV One’s program, R & B Divas: Atlanta.

Other national recording artists are still being added to the Saturday lineup and will be announced in the coming weeks.

This year’s Rochester Summer Soul Music Festival will be a two-day event, bringing exceptional entertainment to our community on Fri. and Sat., Aug. 23 – 24, 2019.

The festival kicks off on Friday, Aug. 23 with a Summer Soul Tailgate Party from 6 – 11 p.m. at Frontier Field.  Billed as the “Best of the Bands,” the event will feature local and regional talent, along with a variety of food and beverage vendors. Attendees can vote for their choice of the best band, and the winner will perform before a crowd of thousands as the opener for Saturday’s show.
