Nelly Reveals New St. Lunatics Project Executive Produced by Metro Boomin

Written by on December 17, 2025

Nelly announced a forthcoming St. Lunatics album, slated for 2026, with hit producer Metro Boomin at the helm. The announcement, made during St. Louis’s Black and White Ball, marks the group’s first official project since their 2001 platinum-certified debut, Free City. Despite only releasing one album, the St. Lunatics left a significant mark on early 2000s hip-hop. The group originally included Nelly, Ali, Murphy Lee, Kyjuan, and City Spud. However, internal conflicts over credit and group formation have persisted over the years, particularly between Nelly and Ali, who has publicly claimed a larger role in the group’s origins than Nelly acknowledges. With Metro Boomin attached, the 2026 project hints at both a nostalgic revival and a modern sound. Participation from all original members remains unclear.
