$3M Gift Furthers MAG’s Goal of Free Admission for All

A $3 million donation from Abby and Doug Bennett and the Sands Family Foundation has brought the Memorial Art Gallery (MAG) halfway toward its goal of raising $6 million to offer permanent free admission. The endowment—named the Abby and Doug Bennett and Sands Family Foundation Free for All Endowment—aims to eliminate financial barriers to museum access. Currently, adult admission is $20, but free admission days see attendance spike sixfold. The gift reflects a belief in universal access to art and education and calls on the community to contribute toward the remaining goal. Once fulfilled, the initiative will make MAG a fully free resource for all Rochester residents.
